Boxing Gloves for Kickboxing

Many kickboxing classes train in boxing-style gloves. These are boxing-style training gloves, often used for kickboxing classes and sparring. Clubs set their own weights for training: one UK university club, for example, advises 14-16oz.

Every glove listed here fastens with hook-and-loop, so you can put it on without help. WAKO's rules say kickboxing gloves fasten at the wrist with self-adhesive strips, and WAKO does not allow gloves with laces (WAKO Rules 2022, Art. 2.3.1.4). So lace-up gloves are left out, along with gloves sold for bag work only.

None of these is a competition glove. WAKO point fighting uses open-palm 8oz gloves, and its other disciplines use 10oz kickboxing gloves. WAKO events require WAKO-approved gloves that carry the WAKO label. Our guide to kickboxing kit by discipline explains the differences.
