Our verdict

A fight-style 4oz MMA glove with Hayabusa's Dual-X two-strap closure. It is the lightly padded, open-palm option for competitors and experienced trainees, not a sparring glove.

Hayabusa states 4oz in the product name. It describes the T3 MMA 4oz as best for MMA training and competition, built with the padding needed for striking and the flexibility of an open-palm glove. Hayabusa's product page confirms its named Dual-X hook-and-loop closure (two interlocking straps), a no-shift Y-Volar palm design, multi-layered foam hand protection and a "Vylar Engineered Leather" outer. On this glove's page, Hayabusa does not say whether Vylar is synthetic. It also sells a separate T3 LX 4oz version in full-grain leather.

"Competition" here is Hayabusa's own usage label, not an approval by any promotion or federation. Whether you can wear your own gloves in a bout depends on the event's rules, so check them before buying for competition. UK retailer Budo Online's buying guide says 4oz competition-style gloves are not suitable for sparring.

Hayabusa's own copy also says the closure removes the need for hand wraps. That is Hayabusa's claim, not advice from this site.

Best suited to

Experienced trainees and competitors who want a lightly padded, fight-style MMA glove for technique work, and for competition where their own gloves are allowed. It has the same Dual-X fit as Hayabusa's T3 7oz Hybrid.

Consider skipping if

You spar regularly: a dedicated sparring glove, such as the Venum Challenger 3.0, suits that better. You are a beginner buying a first all-round glove (see the RDX F6 KARA or the Hayabusa T3 7oz Hybrid). You want a confirmed genuine-leather outer.

Pros

  • 4oz stated by Hayabusa in the product name - a fight-style glove with a manufacturer-stated weight
  • Hayabusa's named Dual-X two-strap closure and no-shift palm, confirmed on its own UK store
  • Sold directly by Hayabusa's UK store

Cons

  • Minimal fight-style padding - not suited to sparring
  • Hayabusa does not say on this glove's page whether its Vylar outer is synthetic
  • A premium price for a fight-style glove
  • Thumb design and size measurements are not stated in text

Why we rated it this way

Protection (2): a 4oz fight-style glove whose design trades padding for dexterity, so it is rated below the sparring and hybrid gloves here - this reflects padding, not quality.

Comfort (4): the Dual-X two-strap closure and no-shift palm are specific, confirmed fit features - the same fit system as the T3 7oz Hybrid.

Durability (3): no independent durability evidence, and Hayabusa does not say on this page whether the Vylar outer is synthetic.

Value (3): a premium price justified mainly by the closure and fit system, not by a confirmed premium material.
