Our verdict

A budget strapped shin and instep guard from Bytomic's own range, in synthetic leather with a removable foot protector, in red/white or blue/white. No size guide, padding description or certification is published for it.

Bytomic describes the Red Label Karate Shin/Instep as a classic-style shin protector for WKF-style karate point fighting. Its description lists durable synthetic leather, hook-and-loop straps, a removable foot protector and full coverage with an instep guard, in Small to XL. The red/white and blue/white versions are separate listings, and Bytomic says the range is designed in the UK.

Bytomic says only that "the padding" helps protection and striking. It publishes no size guide and states no certification.

"WKF style" describes the style: Bytomic is not on WKF's approved list for shin pads and foot protectors. Under WKF rules, those must be WKF Approved in kumite (WKF Kumite Competition Rules 2026, Art. 2.2.7(d) and (e)), so we present it as a guard for training and club sparring.

Best suited to

Beginners and club members who want a low-cost strapped guard with a removable foot for class sparring, in either corner colour (red or blue).

Pros

  • A removable foot protector and hook-and-loop straps, per Bytomic
  • A synthetic leather outer, stated by Bytomic
  • Red/white and blue/white versions, sold directly by Bytomic

Cons

  • Bytomic is not on WKF's approved list; "WKF style" describes a style
  • No size guide, padding description or certification published
  • Four letter sizes, with no measurements

Why we rated it this way

Approval: Bytomic is not among the brands WKF lists for shin pads and foot protectors. "WKF style" is Bytomic's style wording.

Protection (2): Bytomic does not describe the padding and states no certification mark, where every other guard here has at least a stated mark. This is a lower score for missing evidence, not a finding that the guard protects less. Protection is rated on the published description, never on an injury-prevention claim.

Comfort (3): hook-and-loop straps and a removable foot are confirmed, but there is no size guide.

Durability (3): a synthetic leather outer is stated, and "durable" is Bytomic's claim, with no independent evidence.

Value (4): priced below the other two strapped guards here, with a removable foot and four sizes, sold manufacturer-direct.
