Our verdict

Trousers only, not a full uniform: Blitz's full-length kung fu trousers, for schools that train in a T-shirt and plain trousers. They are an 8oz, 65% polyester / 35% cotton blend, with an elasticated waistband and drawstring tie and elasticated cuffed ankles. Blitz also publishes a height chart.

Blitz sells these trousers on their own, without a jacket, and says they are designed for kung fu, tai chi and other traditional martial arts. Blitz states an 8oz fabric in a 65% polyester / 35% cotton blend, with full-length legs and elasticated cuffed ankles. It also lists an elasticated waistband with a drawstring tie, reinforced seams and a woven Blitz label on the left leg.

They come in black, in numbered sizes from 3/160cm to 7/200cm. Blitz's size chart gives a height band for each: 5/180cm, for example, is for 180-189cm. The comfort and movement wording is Blitz's own, not independently tested.

Some schools train in a T-shirt and plain trousers rather than a full suit, so check your school's kit list. For BCCMA Light Sanda bouts, competitors wear a training jacket or plain T-shirt, as the organiser specifies, with long trousers rather than shorts (BCCMA Light Sanda rules 2024, Rule 12.1). The Chief Head Judge has the final say on clothing.

Best suited to

Students whose school trains in a T-shirt and plain trousers, and competitors who need long trousers to wear with a plain T-shirt, as BCCMA's Light Sanda rules ask.

Consider skipping if

You need a full uniform with a jacket: see the PMA Medium Weight 9oz Suit or the PMA Elite Microfibre Suit. You want 100% cotton.

Why we rated it this way

Rated on the clothing criteria (Construction / Materials, Fit & Movement, Durability, Value) - uniforms and kung fu shoes get no Protection score. Rated as trousers, never against a full suit.

Construction / Materials (4): Blitz states the fabric weight (8oz), the composition, the waistband, the cuffed ankles and the reinforced seams.

Fit & Movement (4): the only product in this category with a published size chart, giving a height band for every size. It also has an adjustable waist and cuffed ankles. Blitz's "fluid movement" wording is its own claim, and the rating does not rest on it.

Durability (3): the reinforced seams are Blitz's own description, and there is no independent durability evidence.

Value (4): the lowest price in this category, for trousers alone with a full published specification, sold direct by the maker. We rate it for what it is, not as a cheaper uniform.
