Our verdict

A high-priced Nike wrestling shoe with a hook-and-loop strap that Nike says helps keep the laces tied. Nike's own description is brief for the price.

Nike describes the Inflict 4 with a breathable mesh upper, a rubber outsole and "a hook-and-loop strap that helps keep your laces tied". The UK purchase route here is the specialist retailer Boxfit UK. Nike's product page is on its US site.

Boxfit UK adds a full-length, double-lasted EVA midsole with a low-to-the-ground profile and a gum-rubber outsole with forefoot wrap extensions. These are the retailer's descriptions, not Nike's. Nike does not state the sole construction, cut height or sizing advice. A "runs narrow" remark on Nike's page comes from an automated review summary, not from Nike, so we do not use it.

UWW's Uniform Regulations (January 2026 version) require laces to be covered by adhesive tape and/or elastic fabric so they cannot come undone. The Inflict 4 has a hook-and-loop strap over the laces, but that alone doesn't show the shoe meets this rule. Officials check kit at weigh-in, so check your event's rules.

Best suited to

Wrestlers who want Nike's wrestling shoe with a built-in strap over the laces, and are happy to buy from a UK specialist retailer.

Consider skipping if

You are on a budget: the adidas HVC PLUS also has a strap over the laces, at a much lower price. You want a sole construction the maker confirms.

Pros

  • A hook-and-loop strap over the laces, per Nike
  • A breathable mesh upper and rubber outsole, per Nike
  • A UK purchase route in GBP through a specialist retailer

Cons

  • The highest price in this category for a short manufacturer description
  • The midsole and outsole details come only from the retailer

Why we rated it this way

Rated on Construction / Materials, Fit & Movement, Durability and Value (the footwear criteria) - there is no Protection score for wrestling shoes.

Construction / Materials (3): Nike confirms the mesh upper and rubber outsole. The midsole and gum-rubber details are the retailer's, so we do not rely on them.

Fit & Movement (3): the strap over the laces is confirmed, but Nike gives no sizing advice. The "runs narrow" remark comes from an automated review summary, so we do not use it.

Durability (3): we found no independent durability evidence.

Value (2): a high price for this category, without a fuller published specification than cheaper alternatives. That makes the premium hard to justify on the evidence available.

Sources

  • Manufacturer — Nike's own product page (US site; style HM9674-002 shown) - breathable mesh upper, rubber outsole, "a hook-and-loop strap that helps keep your laces tied". The US dollar price is not used.
  • Other source — Boxfit UK (Romford), the UK purchase route in GBP - and the source of the retailer-only claims: full-length, double-lasted EVA midsole, low-to-the-ground profile, gum-rubber outsole with forefoot wrap extensions.
  • Technical documentation — UWW Uniform Regulations, version January 2026 (printed; the file name says jan2025, and UWW announced it to federations on 21 January 2026). §4 shoes: no rough seams or hard eyelets, non-hazardous lace tips, laces covered by adhesive tape and/or elastic fabric so they cannot come undone, and flexible soles with no roughness and an absence of metal. No sentence makes shoes compulsory.
