  • Kickboxing
    • Sparring
    • Competition

For kickboxing sparring and bouts. Sting describes a boil-and-bite guard with a gel-lined upper and layers of EVA and TPE, in Junior and Adult sizes. WAKO requires a mouthguard in every fighting discipline and age category (WAKO Rules 2022, Art. 2.3.1.3). Mouthguards do not need a WAKO label.

  • Karate

For karate: a boil-and-bite guard you mould to your own teeth, which Sting sells in Junior and Adult sizes. In WKF kumite (competition sparring), a gum shield is compulsory (WKF Kumite Competition Rules 2026, Art. 2.2.7(b)). The rule lists it without the approval requirement it gives mitts, pads and protectors, and WKF's approved list has no gum shield category. But WKF's rules also say all protective equipment must be approved by WKF (Art. 2.2.10), so ask the event organiser what it accepts.

  • Kung Fu (Sanda)
    • Competition

For Sanda bouts. Sting describes this boil-and-bite guard for training, sparring and bouts. A gum shield is compulsory in BCCMA Light Sanda (Light Sanda rules 2024, Rule 11). In IWUF Sanda, competitors provide their own gum guard (IWUF Sanda rules 2024, Art. 7.3).
