Hand Wraps for Kickboxing

Under WAKO rules, hand wraps are mandatory under kickboxing gloves in light contact, kick light, full contact, low kick and K1 Style, and optional in point fighting (WAKO Rules 2022, Art. 2.3.1.5; Chapter 2, Art. 5.1.1).

For competition, WAKO describes cotton strips 2.5-5m long and 5cm wide, which may be elastic, fixed with cotton-based tape no larger than 15cm by 2cm. Otherwise, wrap length depends on your hand size and how you like to wrap. But a wrap longer than 5m is outside WAKO's range, and a wrap with a hook-and-loop closure is worth checking with your event before a bout.

The slip-on gel wrap listed here is a quicker alternative to traditional wraps for class training, not their equivalent. It is not the cotton strip WAKO describes for bouts.
