BCCMA's Light Sanda rules allow kicks, strikes, sweeps and throws within their restrictions (BCCMA Light Sanda rules 2024, Rule 14). They list shin and instep protectors as compulsory equipment (Rule 11.1).
Under IWUF's Sanda rules, shin guards are part of the protective gear for children's and junior competitions, and instep guards for children's, junior and youth competitions (IWUF Sanda rules 2024, Article 7.3).
This listing shows guards from our shared Shin Guards range. Each guard's maker says it covers both the shin and the instep or forefoot. One is a cotton guard with hook-and-loop closures, and another a knit sleeve padded along the shin and instep. The third is a synthetic-leather guard with a neoprene back and hook-and-loop straps.
Light Sanda applies IWUF's standards to its compulsory equipment and allows organisers to supply some or all of it (Rule 11). IWUF's Sanda rules require IWUF-approved protective gear (Article 7.1).
None of these guards is described by its maker as BCCMA- or IWUF-approved, so all are listed for training and sparring. Check the event's rules before you buy for a bout, and use each maker's size guide.
